A Letter from our Alumni President

Dear Ex-Creekers!

This note is almost the same as what we sent out via e-mail a few weeks ago. Sorry for not sending the alumni newsletter out sooner, but I was in limbo for 3+ months on whether I would be moving to Korea. Plans are now finalized, and I will be moving to Korea in July for 2 years to head up a small audit office for the Dept of Defense. However, I plan to be back for Homecoming on October 10-11, 2008. I need some help in preparing for the Homecoming weekend and the next newsletter:

1. I hope to have a few people give presentations on Friday evening and for Sabbath School (instead on the lesson study) on what they are doing to make the world a better place, or mission projects (at home or overseas) they have led or participated in. If you plan to come, and would be willing to give a short presentation 5-10 minutes, please let me know. If you know of anyone who you or I could convince to give a short presentation, also let me know. Presentations with photos are especially welcome, but not required. If you are unable to come, and could send a 5 minute presentation, this would also be great. (Drs. Jim Gulley, Becky Cote, and Barbara McKinney have already agreed to give short presentations. I am hoping a few more will volunteer. I’m sure others are doing interesting things for the Lord and for humanity!)

2. I would like the alumni choir to sing 2 or 3 songs for church. If you are interested in joining the choir, I can send you the music ahead of time, if you let me know.

3. I requested in a newsletter several months ago for 2 or 3 sentences from you to put into the newsletter to let people know what you are doing. I received practically no responses. Please send me a sentence or two of what you are up to for us to include in the next newsletter. Many Ex-Creekers are hungry for news of what their classmates and friends are up to. Many are interested in you as a friend, classmate, or simply as an Ex-Creeker. (Please don’t think that you have to win the Nobel prize in order to have something noteworthy to tell.) See the newsletter for the responses I received via my e-mail request.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Norman Peek (1953) slipped away in his sleep on February 25, 2008 after a battle with colon cancer. He moved to Little Creek with his parents in 1951 and retained a deep love for Little Creek and the self-supporting work throughout his life.He was devoted to the education of young people and to the idea of continuing to increase his knowledge about a wide variety of subjects throughout his life.During his lifetime, he was alternately a teacher, an entrepreneur, a tireless worker for The Layman Foundation and a carpenter and repair man. Many people were blessed by his abilities to both fix the small things that were broken around their houses and to have a very serious religious discussion at the same time. is survived by his wife, Ava Peek and two children Britt and Charlene (Peek) (1982) Ponder and Daniel (1984) and Cynthia Peek and two grandchildren, Hannah and Timothy Peek

A Military funeral service was held on February 4 for Chaplain John E.
