A Letter from our Alumni Presidient

Dear Alumni and Friends,

The Lord gifted us all with another beautiful weekend for Homecoming '06! Many comments were made to me about the wonderful time alumni had together and the evidence of the Spirit's presence in blessings received from the personal testimonies shared and program presentations given. A theme of looking forward to heaven ran throughout the weekend in song and message. It was a time of laughter and tears, remembering the past and looking forward to the furture. I want to thank all of those who helped make the weekend so special!

Plans are already developing for Homecoming '07. The class of '67 will be presenting the Sabbath School program with Ron Woolsey leading the Bible study. Bob Folkenburg, Jr. and the great class of 1982 have agreed to take care of the worship service.

In response to requests from several alumni over the past few years, a "yahoo group" has been formed exclusively for Little Creek Alumni and friends to communicate with each other. The group is by "invitation only" and requires "yahoo membership" which is free. Many alumni gave their addresses to me at Homecoming but to be effective I need to have the rest of you send your email addresses to me at narroway@alltel.net and then I will "invite" you into the group. I have seen the names of 100+ alumni on other alumni websites that require fees for full usage. We can do basically the same thing for FREE this way. I hope this will be an alumni service that many of you will find useful.

Donation Update—Thank You! Thank You! The Bass Memorial Academy staff and students were very touched by the generosity of LCA alumni in giving $4100+ for the “piano replacement fund”! A plaque of recognition will be placed on the upright studio piano which has been fully paid for with your donations. The remaining funds will be applied toward the cost of other keyboards. The gift of music goes on!!

God bless you each,
Claudia Woolsey, Alumni President

From the Straws

Leland and Alice Straw

Sitting with Alice in the San., I have watched quite a lot of Television. Did you ever hear of more wars, earthquakes, floods, famines, murders, or fires? You name it, it's there. Then read Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21.

I was so impressed a short while ago to read that the United States sent 3, including the President, to the funeral of a church leader. If I recall correctly, 145 heads of state were there. I had just been reading Revelation 13, “The deadly wound was healed, and all the world wondered after the beast.”

Perhaps the very thought that really impressed me is in Phillipians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” Going back to verse 3, “ Let nothing be done through strife of vainglory, but in lowliness of mind lest each esteem other better than themselves.” If we follow that whole section, what a change must lake place in our attitude. Is this what must happen to me to gain entrance into the kingdom? Think on these things.

Leland Straw
